a ponzi is when someone pays you what you think is a high interest rate on your deposit, from them successfully investing etc, when they are really paying you that interest out of your own or other investors deposits. you're not yourself waiting for other suckers to pay you're interest (profits) cause you are unawares whats going on.
most people mislabel pyramid schemes and similar as ponzi's.
