Luis Enrique has made Chevalier their first-choice goalkeeper this season, meaning Donnarumma's career is nearing the end of his PSG career, leaving him with no other option but to find a new club. Chevalier also performed well in his first match against Angers, although there's no comparison because he was facing a weaker team. However, if you look closely Chevalier is a goalkeeper who truly possesses the best abilities, in line with Luis Enrique's wishes.
It is already certain that Donnarumma’s PSG career is over from this summer and PSG have continued life after Donnarumma but the Italian is currently linked with a move to Manchester City in the English premier league. I don’t know what special qualities Chevalier has that Enrique wants because I barely watch games from the French league but I am sure there must be something about Chevalier that Enrique admires that made him sign the goalkeeper.
Luis Enrique took a huge risk by letting Donnarumma go. Despite his strategic needs, relying on the inexperienced Chevalier is a gamble. PSG should be retain Donnarumma at all costs, he was a key pillar in PSG Champions League success last season. Donnarumma reportedly demanded a higher salary increase in contract extension discussions, which PSG are reluctant to meet.
If Donnarumma were to leave for Manchester City, I think it would be a good move for his career, but so far no official offer has been made. Situationally, Pep Guardiola would likely have to sacrifice Ederson if he signed Donnarumma, and that's likely to happen. If Chevalier fails to live up to expectations, Luis Enrique will face harsh criticism this season.
