Look at the world's total energy production sources and you'll realize wind and solar will never be able to fulfill our needs.
They need a ton of land and the technologies can only improve so much. Wind especially is way way less efficient on land coverage than any other energy production method.
In the future we'll need more land for agriculture, so our energy production methods better take that into account also. We'll keep using coal and gas and oil for producing energy even if we increase "green" energy production the fuels are still needed for emergencies and times when there's no wind/sun or when there's emergent demand.
China is now actually increasing its coal mining operations. And the oil reserves we have can last us for centuries even with current production.
Surely climate change is a concern, but it doesn't look like there will be a slowdown in gas consumption.
I just laugh it time I see people talking of abandonment of non renewable energy sources. The earth is billions of years old and Fossil fuels formed a long time ago even long before the existence of man. Taking this into account, mans industrial age started just over some decades ago, at least before we can be able to run out of Fossil fuels it will take centuries and that simply means non of us alive today will be able to witness that happen.
Yes, agreed Fossil fuel consumption causes pollution but what about sold and wind energy! Is solar recyclable, the answer is no which means it causes its own environmental hazards when it dumped. Wind energy , the fiberglass that's used to make the blades is not recyclable and it's non biodegradable which also will cause and environmental hazard. Fossil fuels are much more efficient because there are some heavy duty machinery that needs fossil fuels for power.
