Cheteshwar Pujara had his moments in test cricket. But he never achieved the sort of fame and success that some of the other players had, since he was not a very suitable candidate for the IPL. Played a total of 30 matches in the IPL, with a strike rate of less than 100. But he more than made up for that by playing 103 test matches. Today's youngsters will never understand the value of playing more than a hundred test matches. And in the future we will see very few players getting to that mark.
Pujara is a player who is made for red ball format. He played 5 ODIs but was not very successful in that format. He played his last test almost 2 years ago, so its a right decision by him to retire from test cricket because of long absence from test cricket. Test matches are played in rear quantity compared to T20 and viewers are also interested in T20 format. Pujara had zero T20I to his name and he was also not a successful IPL hitter that's why he didn't get the fame he deserve.
