You are absolutely correct in saying that access is just ridiculously easy. Children are conditioned by loot-box systems and hammered by social marketing. Look at these 27% of 11-17-year-olds gambled with their own funds last year. KYC is not an impenetrable shield as age checks are clumsy and avoidable. A combination of bank or application level gambling blocks, tough parental controls and stricter ad/algorithm limits with actual enforcement on the platforms are some prominent solution that should be implemented rather than just vibing along. That reduces exposure and minimizes friction even when a child attempts to sneak in.

Parents have a more significant role in curbing underage gambling. This is because the rate of gaming adds they are exposed to can lead them to start gambling. And it is well known that underage gamblers can easily become hooked or addicted. Gambling platforms shouldn't just ask for people's ages, but they should be verified accordingly. Parents should also monitor how their children use their funds. It's quite alarming that such a significant number of underage youths engage in gambling in the UK.
