Of course it protect the players, for sure that's the main reason why they ban it in India.

Same thing happening in Philippines, they already cracked down on POGOs and even blocked e-wallets from connected to gambling sites. I'm not sure if this kind of situation happening in India like e-wallet can easily connected to gambling site.

Also the reason for every country doing this is to stop scams and addiction before it gets worse. The downside I see is some players might just move to more not secure gambling site like where it's more risky.
