While other countries are trying to ban gambling in their countries, there are countries like Sri Lanka who is trying to use gambling as a way to revive their economy. They are aiming to attract gamblers from India and China to contribute to their tourism. Do you think this will be effective? Do you think it is possible to revive a failing economy just from gambling revenue? Would you be willing to travel to Sri Lanka to gamble?
First and foremost, I can never travel to any country in this world just for the sole purpose of gambling, not even Las Vegas, not when I am not a gambling addict and do not treat gambling as an important activity or anything.
But this is not to dispute the fact that gambling is a really big business as I believe many of us would or should already know, but when it comes to a country who's economy is in shambles trying to make use of gambling as a means of reviving the economy again, then I will love to see and read the manifesto of the whole plan before I decide to say if it will a successful project/plan or not.
But then without a manifesto or anything like it, it's hard to tell, really hard for me to believe that a dead or dying economy can be revived simply from money made from tourist gamblers, first question would be, how does the government plan to attract those tourist in the first place? When if traveling to countries to gamble was a big deal, there are other better countries those tourists can choose to travel to instead?
It's confusing really but I would definitely want to see how this all play out in the end for Sri Lanka.
