This is not a good start for Atletico Madrid after following a draw and one defeat against the two previous matches.
The defeat from of Espanyol was very unfortunate because Atletico Madrid should be able to get three full points in the match and the draw they lived when facing Elche also gave a little disappointment.
Elche was able to appear much better because they managed to get two points so far despite facing a much stronger opponent.
And vice versa Espanyol's appearance, which has so far been much better because it has achieved a draw and won in the previous two matches.
They have had very bad start in this season but I believe that they will recover from this mini crisis and return to top positions later. Even without two early bad matches, Atletico Madrid in my opinion nearly can not compete for La Liga title with Barcelona and Real Madrid. These bad early matches make their race for a third or fourth position more difficult but I believe they will get it at the season ending.
They started the season badly. There are still many matches left and Atletico Madrid will have many opportunities to improve. Since the end of last season, I have been looking at Diego Simeone with a bit of a bad feeling because his focus on the team is perhaps a little low. The players were not mentally prepared to do better.
Simeone is an experienced manager and I hope he will be able to get the team back on a winning streak by working harder.
Diego Simeone has been in Atletico Madrid in many years and he joined them when they were in big crisis, gradually built up their squad and gained success in La Liga and Champions League. He has proven his management capability through many hard times in the club and this season won't beat him down. Anyway, whatever happens in this season, he has been already marked in Atletico Madrid history as one of their most successful and legendary head coaches.
