The thing I do when I'm not gambling is definitely working. I only gamble for 1 hour at most a day, so currently my gambling situation is still good because it doesn't interfere with my work time and when I'm with my family, I prefer to play online games rather than gamble for more than 1 hour.
Everyone has their limits and what actually works for them. Personally I think gambling for an hour might be too much if you are focusing on reducing losses and trying to gamble responsibly. The longer you keep on gambling the more money you lose, from my experience the only thing that can keep a gambler actively gambling for an hour is probably when you are chasing losses and this can end negatively
Unless it is sports betting, spending over an hour on gambling is way to much. What game will you be playing like that and how many losses would you have recorded gambling for that long, especially if it is slots where you just spin and hope it rolls in your favour. Let's imagine if it was that kind of game, how many losses should you have recorded by the time it's 30 minutes then talk more of 1 hour. It will be so much loss on you already and that's why one should be smart enough to set boundaries for themselves when gambling.
