First of, I just think that many people are playing slots games online and even sports betting is majorly online now because people are no longer limited to information or the online gambling platforms and sports books. Even in my country, online gambling is very popular now but still, many people visits the land based casinos. In my country, there are some clubs that has casinos and there's no night you will visit there without finding multitude of people there, meaning that both offline and online gambling is still booming.

However, some countries are much more ahead of others in the number of gambling addicts, because, probably, the government takes a shadow policy there so that the local population and, of course, tourists play gambling. For example, this happens in Japan, Australia or Las Vegas or in Krasnaya Polyana in Russia.
after a research it’s said that australia has a lot of gamblers and addicted ones at that i think at this point gambling has become such the norm and they’re not exactly trying to get rid of it anymore but now gamblers are flocking towards a new thing and it’s sports betting

Of course, the question for any government of any country remains open: do they want to see part of their population prosperous and happy, or forgetting reality in gambling?
i don’t think any government wants a society with citizens that are unproductive and wasting all their time in gambling but gambling generates revenue as well and if they could balance profit and responsibility then that would be perfect
