Looks like Ravi Ashwin has bid adieu to the IPL after CSK released him earlier which is sad to hear considering his popularity as a spin legend though it seems like he will still be playing cricket for foreign countries.

That is a very bold step from Ravichandran Ashwin. The BCCI doesn't permit Indian players to participate in foreign leagues if they are active. Ashwin need to "retire" from all forms of cricket before he becomes eligible to play in these competitions. And that will put the BCCI in a spot of bother. In case Ashwin has retired, how he continues to play in the Hundred? So far they have allowed players to play in the legends series, but those are mostly players who are in their mid-40s and 50s.

He has hunger of exploring new stuff and this might be an another experiment for him. I believe he won't play for money but just to experience the vibes as he's already rich.

If he's after new source of income then he should go ahead with commentary gig, with his knowledge he could earn half a million per year easily.
