Honestly, it's true that perpetual is just alternative when you do not have anything else. But in reality, futures are a lot better and should be something that can be great to improve. If you can do that, then you are going to get the best out of this, and shouldn't have a lot of trouble. If you can find the futures you want, then you are not going to focus on perpetual.
To be fair, it's a rare case but I would say it would make sense if you could end up with neither because for me both are troubled, that is the risk, and if you can handle it, then you can have a better period. Not everyone has the same return to this at all, it's a different situation without much trouble, and for me, futures and perpetuals are bad.
