I recently read about an MIT and IBM model trained on millions of Bitcoin transactions, already being used to quickly identify suspicious patterns. It got me wondering if we’re adequately prepared for what’s coming.
Has anyone else here been thinking about this? Are there discussions happening about potential safeguards—or is this just something we'll have to live with?
I'd really like to hear your thoughts on this.
AI might be able to trace or track transactions fast and accurately but they might not able to link transactions to an individual. The only medium a wallet can be linked to an individual is if the owner has done KYC in a centralized platform. As much as bitcoin users use P2P through decentralized exchanges, AI can only track the transactions, but the identities of the users will not be unraveled. With some countries making some anti-privacy laws, staying anonymous is becoming hard. But we can always use privacy tools at our disposal to cover up our tracks.
Or just never set foot in the CEX-based project lairs in the first place (if possible, of course).
