Do you think problem gamblers can save on themselves to start living in the "bright future" they hope for after a big win at the casino?
The same goes for problem bettors and sports betting.
First time hearing that syndrome, probably yes they can save themselves if they managed to hit a big win. That kind of effect to gamblers is really worse, imagine instead of living fully in the present, you will keep deferring joy and fulfillment because of your addiction. Probably this kind of behavior can still be saved by going through a professional and also moral support and help from the family members. I think still relying on gambling hoping to win big will just keep things worst.
All gamblers don't stop when they hit a big win, majority of them continue the gambling because they thought another winning is ahead but when they try again and not win but their money is constantly decreasing they starts to chase losses. Not all gamblers are wise enough to know that it is difficult to win. What op said is true, it has happened to me most times, when I have little money on me, sometimes I postponed what I want to do, it's not because I'm addicted but because I want to gamble. I'm not an addict gambler, I only gamble ones in a while.
