While emotions is inevitable to experience in life it will be handy for a gambler should they learn to master a control over it instead of the opposite. Thier is no hurry in making money from gamble, when it is your time you won't have to play over and over again to break even before win your profit.

Honestly speaking, it's hard for everybody to control his emotion especially when making successive wins or when has no budget limits so he can gamble with more than how much he can afford to lose. Day after day, addiction become inevitable.
A friend of mine lost his job and his children move living with their grandparents because he can't pay life expenses anymore and his wife divorced him. Even though, his situation got worsen each time he achieve few winnings because he fall victims for drug and alcohol addiction. Actually he is hidden in a house wood fear to get arrested as he can't pay debts.
With a conscious effort daily taking it at one step at a time we can largely gain control of our emotions. We can reference it to a person with a quick anger issues, but when they make a deliberate attempts to work on their anger they get over it in due course.

Oh what a pity to your friend's predicament. Gambling in penury plus drug and alcoholism with divorce on a one man. With all this going on in his life he can not be satisfied with any win except a large jackpot to settle his financial problems, which is rare. Your friend urgently needs a psychological support of counselors to assist him manage to recover from his condition.

Another major problem is that gambling addiction is not legally recognized as a fatal disease. This lead to some conditions can't be legally treated the same way we handle with cancer or covid. The addict have no fear from laws to punish him if he can't satisfy his family needs, at the same time laws give no solutions for him to overpass his pathological addiction. This is a legislation dilemma in almost all countries, except for few countries where we can find psychological treatment facilities.

Pathetically tragic, the mother of my friend took him to a magician who pretend to have supernatural powers with the help of our holy book the Quran. Then after she got no results, she returned to him again blaming him not being able to help. He told her that this is a god punishment because he doesn't do prayers. The solution is he has to do daily prayers to great Allah. Lol
