True the season is just starting and it's true that Chelsea has had a good start to the season but there are other teams that are better than them when it comes to the champions League because teams like Barcelona, Madrid and even bayern munich has more champions League experience than Chelsea.
So it will be much difficult for Chelsea to win the champions League than the above mentioned teams Chelsea is still in a building process and should focus more on getting a good team first before seeing themselves as favorite when it comes to the champions League.
Chelsea have a good squad, but they need to play together in harmony and get to know each other for a while. Look at Manchester City a few years ago; they dominated the Premier League on their own after being in harmony. To achieve the same, the players will need to play together for a while and get to know each other. Perhaps Chelsea could be one of the favorites next year, depending on how well the players can find each other.
Chelsea have the teams to aim for the champions league trophy this season no doubt about that but they are not among my pick for certain reasons. Just like you said, they have talents that have not been moulded into a team to compete for such a big title, although the combination of Neto, Enzo and Pedro is proving to be a killer squad even in the absence of Palmer. Well, one cannot wave them off because they have such a dynamic team. I just feel that Bayerm Munic, Barcelona, and Liverpool are better prepared for the trophy.
