There was no feasible contact on Lamine Yamal by Pep Chavarría and the penalty wouldn't have stood if the VAR was working. But the game showed the weakness of Barcelona's defence.
Lamine Yamal was very proactively in touching Rayo Vallecano's defensive player at the moment and the referee including VAR team were fouled by Yamal. Without Var engagement, this decision can be explained but with VAR support, I feel very strange with this mistaken decision by the referee and his team. Barcelona got a big gift and Yamal scored but in this match, generally Vallecano played well especially in counter attacks while Barcelona played with too high defensive line and they allowed Vallecano having many good opportunities. Only bad shots from Vallecano players and luckiness helped Barcelona finishing this match with one point.
Perfect analyses. Match officials and Var are also too incompetent, so I don't go moaning when they blow or call what they should have done. I want to give Joan Garcia his props, he was responsible for the draw otherwise, that game should have seen Rayo Vallecano stealing all three points. Laughable player on that pitch was Marcus Rashford, he has to work hard otherwise, he'll never be signed up completely.
This match is actually a very controversial one and even getting one point, Barcelona already fell behind Real Madrid in La Liga ranking table. This disappointed draw even with a good start, is a big alarm for Barcelona, that they must play more carefully in coming matches as well as in this season. Real Madrid in this season are different than the last one and they will be better able to take advantage of Barcelona mistakes as well as dropped points.
