No body gives you power but it is taken from the people by those that need it. It is taken from the poor, the rich, middle class, religion, ethnic groups,weaker countries etc.If you need power especially politicians and world power countries,these people can go to any length to make sure they get that power. Check out what is happening in Russia and Ukraine ,Isreal and the Palestine. Each country is showing power either by technology or man power.
The country you mention has what they have today because they worked for it and they deserve to get what they have. Leaders and politicians who normally say power is taken and not given often snatch power by abusing their authority, in an illegal way.
Like in most underdeveloped countries, politicians who occupy positions don't deserve them, but they obtained their positions illegally. In countries where due processes are followed, where the citizens have power, leadership is given to those who truly deserve it.
