I am annoyed with the Manchester United management. They bought Senne Lammens from Antwerp. And it cost them about 21 million. United management should have tried to sign Martinez. Because Martinez is considered one of the best goalkeepers of the current era.
I am not saying that Senne Lammens is a bad goalkeeper. However, compared to Martinez, Senne will be far behind. Manchester United would have had to spend more money to sign Martinez. But they would still have got a great goalkeeper.
This is quite understandable because Martinez is quite open and we know his capabilities and experience compared to Senne Lammens in the EPL, so even though bringing in a new goalkeeper at this point is a very good move, there is of course a risk because it is still a gamble for Manchester United in the end.
However, on the other hand, it wouldn't be Manchester United if they didn't think outside the box, as they have done before with similar moves, such as letting Carreras go to Benfica in hopes of relying more on Luke Shaw, or when they quietly pushed De Gea out and replaced him with Onana. So, the arrival of a new goalkeeper this time isn't really that unusual for them.
We will wait and see whether Senne Lammens will meet Manchester United's expectations or become another mistake they make.
