I even once got AA, but was ultimately beaten by a small card that gets a Straight. That's how it is sometimes, even though we have the strongest hand, it doesn't guarantee a strong combination at the table. Luck plays a big role in poker, not just skill.

Poker is considered a skill game for a reason. Luck plays a factor, sure, but you can mitigate the risk by applying a smart strategy, bankroll management etc. AA is still just a pair and doesn't guarantee a win. Of course, in a freeroll tournament scenario, it makes sense to trust it and go all-in pre-flop if you have to, but in more serious games, you have to be ready to fold it if the risk becomes too high.

I just played a 12-game freeroll for the first time in my life (at least I don't recall playing it in the past). It was a fun and weird experience. I had to look up the rules for some of the games as I played it.
