Italian teams perform surprisingly well in the Champions league platform . Even though they are not considered favorites for the final, they perform quite consistently in the knockout rounds. Anyway, I do not think that will happen this season. Inter Milan's position is shaky. Napoli's overall performance is somewhat stable, but their attack is weak. Even though they can do well in Serie A, I do not expect a very good performance from the team on the Champions League platform. On the other hand , Atalanta's situation doesn't seem to be very strong so far. If they don't improve their performance in the upcoming matches, there is a big chance that they will be eliminated in the first round of the Champions League.
I think that none of the Italian teams have the ability to compete well in the Champions League. We can raise some hopes for Inter Milan and Napoli, but their recent form and team strength are not strong enough for the Champions League. Inter Milan's form is not very good right now, while Napoli is playing well but there are doubts about how suitable they are for the Champions League. It would be foolish to expect the rest of the teams. However, this season I will probably see the Spanish and English leagues dominating and one of these two leagues will play in the final.
Italian team have not get that mindset and compete with other big club in the Champions League they will perform well but they can't achieve the Champions league because they don't have the key players, that other clubs have in the competition. Napoli, inter Milan are the only club that usually compete in the ucl every season in the Italian competition, but they always failed at end and lose the trophy. Inter Milan have play two final in the ucl and usually lost the game. They play against Manchester City and they didn't get the opportunity to achieve it last season they face PSG and failed to achieve it still.
So even any Italian team go to the champions league final I can't says they will achieve it because they don't have full experience that can make them win the trophy. Champions league is always a tough competition and clubs are challenging each other in the ucl every season. In my opinion with what I think this season, and seeing how some big club perform in the three matches they played in the league competition, i can probably says Liverpool, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and probably Chelsea, are the only club I think they can fight and one of them will win the Champions league this time around.
