PJ Washington got a bag to stay with the Dallas Mavericks. He got himself a 4-year $90 million deal. Good for him. I guess as far as contracts go these days this one isn’t too bad, but we won’t be seeing him make any all star teams anytime soon. Crazy that he can get $22M and Westbrook can’t get $3M.
And look at their stats last season, especially the average points, the gap isn’t huge, but the salary gap is. I think Dallas is considering his potential future contributions. His rebounds went up to 7.8 last season as well. As for Westbrook, well, he’s a future HOF, but at this point, he’s no longer the player he used to be, nor will he get back to that level. Maybe since he’s a future HOF, he thinks he should at least get a slightly higher offer, or maybe like CP3, just consider retirement, negotiate, and then go back to the Thunder.
