Like what feeling exactly? Isn't it the same feeling after making a transfer from your bank app for a service rendered to you? I haven't paid for a food with Bitcoin but I don't think doing so would give some kind of inexplicable feeling since I'm even spending from my coin.
Although, it's a nice idea from your friend to consider accepting Bitcoin as a payment method but it doesn't make sense when it's a meager amount considering the cost of transaction and confirmation process.
The same way we have phobia for things is the same way people gave feelings for things you don't expect. Maybe that was his first time, it's normal for people to be nervous if they have not done something before in their lifetime. You have to also understand that the way humans think is different.
It could also be that OP is from a region where Bitcoin isn't talk about, he might be expressing his feelings which is normal thing. If I buy a Lamborghini today, I will be super excited to used it but people that has used it before will see it as normal thing, this is similar to OP experience.
