I saw this
report saying my country’s government agency that regulates gambling gets most of their profit from online gambling. I was shocked to find out thst 59.9% of their revenue comes from online gambling.I know how much online gambling has grown over the years but to see this number was still shocking. Anyway, some thinks that the agency’s reliance on online gambling for profit makes them inefficient in actually regulating gambling activities in the country. People are asking for them to be more effective and not just consider the gambling operators’s profits because my country has poor healthcare and won’t be able to accommodate addict patients well. There really has to be some objectivity still but I also understand wanting to keep the revenue going especially if it helps in the economy.
When the government implements a gambling tax policy but doesn't balance it with anticipatory measures like mental health services, it's easy to conclude that your government doesn't care about the people affected by gambling, only prioritizing the profits it can generate. It's an unhealthy policy to implement if it leaves many citizens without mental guidance. If this continues without any policy revision, it means that there will continue to be an imbalance between gambling, the government and society.
