I saw this
report saying my country’s government agency that regulates gambling gets most of their profit from online gambling. I was shocked to find out thst 59.9% of their revenue comes from online gambling.
It’s PAGCOR (Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation) that regulates casinos, so it’s no surprise they’re getting most of the profit from online gambling since that’s the big trend now. Reports say revenues jumped to 59.9% as of June 2025, which also explains why more people are getting hooked. The government even reacted by removing casino links from GCash and Maya. Because of that move, I won’t be surprised if there’s a drop in revenue next quarter.
But actually, the logic here is simple. If casino revenue is going up, that only means more citizens are losing money. That’s not a good sign, especially if most of the gamblers are coming from the poor sector.
