In theory they have always compete with PSG but in the last decade 1.5 decade PSG simply had no competition and I think they will have no competition for this year aswell. However , like you said Marseille is trying for a couple of years to make a project aiming for long term achievements and at some point the results should start coming in. Until then , they have to be honest and aim for that 2nd place this year to play in UCL again next year but also make a great impression this year too. Cool

PSG's dominance would not last forever, this was the same way Olympique Lyonnais used to dominate the French league several decades ago but somehow other clubs emerged and dethroned them from the top, but in the case of these recent times it is the poor performance of the clubs that have given PSG the opportunity to keep dominating but if any club that is anxious enough to make history emerges then they would do what seems to be the impossible in the French league which is making sure PSG doesn't continue to win the title back to back.
