Victor Boniface was not called up for this international break this is not unconnected to his present state as you know he is not too fit as he failed a medical in AC Milan even though he made a final minute move to weirder Bremen , I don't think that he is too fit for this crucial world cup qualifiers so the coach did the right thing by not calling him up for this games.
So you actually believe the media that AC Milan decided to abandon the move for Boniface because he is not fit? Personally I don't; I feel it is just an excuse to blow off the deal. If they really wanted him, fitness is something that can be worked on and improved, but I think they had other plans.
Forget the media they want to sell headlines by making that news about Victor Boniface who have been very active and fit throughout the season and preseason games. AC Milan reasons for not completing the deal was that their doctors were afraid about Victor Boniface anterior cruciate ligament injuries to his knee, an injury he sustained sometime ago playing for Bodo/Glimtz. The fear was that the injury might slow down his performance in the future and that AC Milan shouldn't risk it. And no that Victor Boniface is not fit.
Right now Victor Boniface is in Uyo training with his Nigerian colleagues in preparation to their match with Rwanda. By the way, if Boniface was having fitness challenge that made A Milan not to sign him why did Werder Bremen had to sign him immediately Milan pulled out of the deal?
