Every week, we here new information of restrictions in Philippines. Is the situation that bad?
I'm going to be drawing my conclusion on this matter. The reason why the government are taking strict actions against gambling in Philippine s is based on the illegal's gambling activities that was carried out in the country. Perhaps, they have traced everything, only to find out, gambling and casino was the root everything.
I'm not really sure what you mean by restrictions in the Philippines?
The link posted sad that their local authoritative body about gambling known as PAGCOR has been hacked. The the data stolen was a lot and it says that it's mostly the personal information of Filipinos that requested to be excluded playing.
But the bad part is that the list also included top level government officials. So it's going to be crazy on what the hackers will do with this data, it's half a million names. And they suspect that the leak came from their license casinos.
We all know that our personal information should be secured and protected especially if we surrender such upon submitting KYC documents. Given that hackers were able to steal this data, then we can expect that they can sell it to others or even lift the restrictions from their end.
With all this data that they have, it also poses a serious risk to the ones involved regarding their personal safety and privacy. I just hope that this experience would compel PAGCOR to invest into better security programs given the amount of revenue they generate in the country.
