Really an odd situation for Girona. They haven't had that difficult of a fixture list so far, yet having a -9 goal difference and 3 losses is extremely poor at this point. Villarreal away is difficult, but Rayo and Sevilla are teams you should be taking 4, maybe even 6 points from. I know there was a red card in the first game, but that's no excuse.
The next game is against Celta away, so if they lose that, it could be 4 losses in 4 matches — maybe a reason to start considering a replacement for Míchel.
In 2015-2016 season, Leicester City became the champions of premier league out of nowhere without any type of luck, I mean nobody gave them a chance at all and we are not seeing this changing. Howeever, just one season later they were 12th. While they did recover a year later a bit and became 9th, they just stayed there for 18-19 season, their best year came when in 19-20 they were 5th, and also in 20-21, but then in 21-22 they were 8th.
Why did I explained this? Because Leicester city, didn't even take 10 years, from their premier league title win, until in 22-23 season when they dropped to championship, relegated from premier league. That is just few seasons, never that high again, and eventually down. Girona is not really that different, they had one good season, but that's it, they had just one good season, they are not historically some amazing team, so that means we are not going to see them do that amazingly, we will see them fail.
