Just read a report that 2 DPWH Bulacan officials, one a district engineer, the other a staff, blew around P300M (or over $5 million) each in casino gambling, even using aliases. This came out in the Senate Blue Ribbon probe on ghost flood projects.

One of them, Engr. Henry Alcantara, admitted playing 2–3 times a month, while his aide Brice Hernandez bet even bigger. Aside from that, they’re also accused of forging signatures and pocketing funds.

Question is, how can gov officials gamble that big when their salary won’t even cover a fraction of it? Corruption? Loans? What do you think?

This one's a no-brainer, mate, corruption. Just an hour ago, I came across an article stating that Engr. Brice Ericson Hernandez was cited in contempt for refusing to reveal the source of the funds he used for casino activities. It's honestly infuriating. We work hard, pay our taxes diligently, and this is how they choose to misuse public money? It's a slap in the face

Senate Blue Ribbon Committee Chairman Rodante Marcoleta approved the motion to cite Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Engineer Brice Ericson Hernandez in contempt after he refused to disclose the source of the money he used in casinos.
Senator Marcoleta also revealed that Hernandez used the alias "Marvin Santos De Guzman" to gamble at the casino.
