I think the target is to win everything, not just Serie A. They reached the finals last year, so maybe their appetite has grown. Appointing Chivu is a bold move, because clearly they’ve seen something in him that stands out.
There’s no guarantee that hiring a high-profile coach will lead to success. They already had an experienced coach in Simone Inzaghi — some seasons were excellent, and others weren’t. We don't know what Chivu can do in his first season. He isn't as experienced as Inzaghi. At first their main target would be to bring the Serie A trophy home in my opinion. If he competes well for it then the expectations would surely get bigger than that.
