What a serious observation @op. While our ancestors married without genetic testing, there was also high rates of infant death and genetic conditions unknown to them(as in without observations) which is usually attributed to one thing or the other. Here some may say the gods made it so. Today, science is awareness and choice, which feels disturbing but for sure empowers would be husband and wife to make informed decisions for the health of their future children’s. Somehow nothing has changed, only human knowledge and awareness developed to ensure well-being.
Not to forget, the pain associated with genetic test is usually emotional and today knowing has grown to include emotional intelligence which is needed in situations like this...
