The usage and awareness of Bitcoin in Naija is surely increasing, personally I think Nigeria is one of those countries in Africa where if it where down to the citizens, Bitcoin would have been a legal tender. Still the knowledge of Bitcoin statistically has been with the younger generation. Either in rural or urban areas. The market, women. Pensioners, Older entrepreneurs may not be armed with such knowledge. If more awareness is needed, what's the best way to reach a huge populace?

I can proudly say that I am one of those who advocated for the adoption of Bitcoin in Nigeria and I can recall vividly that I took the step towards approaching the new governor of my state who's now over two years in office. Then they were still new to the government with fresh ideas fresh mindset and all of that. Though he used to be a lawmaker before becoming true governor so it was my thought that he would have understood how important things like that could be considerig that he's also a young man.

So I took a proposal to my state governor to introduce the bitcoin technology into our secondary school curriculum as an entrepreneurship or what we called trade subjects. The governor later after three to 4 days called for my attention I met with him then to further explain the intent of our proposal and he promised to look into the issue as he described it as a brilliant idea that was timely.

Later same year by December I got a call from the SSG and asked me to come to his office which I went with my friends/teammates and we sat with him. He said he was impressed with our idea considering that we are young people and are already thinking about bringing our younger ones out of poverty. He said they are already setting up a team to handle our case, but since then I didn’t hear from them. We're about 2 years after and no response. Here's how it went.

Someone said maybe it is because of the federal government and CBN who doesn't seem to be accepting bitcoin and blocking other arms of the government from adopting bitcoin too which is true. Today if the federal government will accept bitcoin, I know without an iota of doubt that my state government will call me back to work.
