I know that the UK and the EU are making laws to have some level of control over the crypto space. But the US has not come up with such stringent laws as these countries. The article was poorly written, and there was no source to authenticate such a move by the US government. Most of the links in the write-up are not working. However, this a sad news for People who fancy privacy and decentralization. The government was to increase surveillance and also make more money from taxes.

Every country will sooner or later tighten it's grip on crypto because government don't want to promote any financial system which is not under their control. Such moves also tells us the importance of non-custodial wallets as they give you more control over security. Those who prefer  privacy and decentralisation must go for non-custodial wallets like electrum. Those who are keeping there crypto on exchanges like Binance will have to undergo AML/KYC one day.
