Doomscrolling or doomsurfing is the act of spending an excessive amount of time reading large quantities of user-generated content or news, particularly negative news, on the web and social media

basically doomscrolling is aimlessly scrollig through social media without any real intentions. being on social media also generates dopamine which is the same happy hormone that gambling can give you. we both doomscroll or gamble when we are bored. what do you think is worse, gambling or doomscrolling?

is it healthy to engage in these two activities excessively?

What is has to do with gambling though? And in doom scrolling as you defined it, people are just doing it for the sake of passing the time with no money involved. Even my wife is doing this until she fell asleep and then I will just woke up with her phone still on. Of course everything that is overboard is not going to be healthy in the long run. But if we talk about money spending, then it seems that it's better to scroll than losing money in gambling.

And there are no dopamine involved in scroll your favorite subject in social media. And again, if there was, then it's not even close to the high that we got in gambling. So just better be scrolling and get all the information that you want and then used it.
