I would recommend that he knows how the sports he wants to bet on work, but normally I think that most people will know this or at least have a basis to understand them well, and start by betting low amounts and only making simple bets, he will learn the rest eventually because it is not that difficult to understand, but if he starts betting things like crazy things could get complicated for him and he could find it overwhelming to have so many combined bets.
