Gold is also volatile, although at a lesser rate than Bitcoin. Market prices can decline if central banks start raising rates, or if geopolitical tensions are eased. With Bitcoin, it's different. It can continue to go up, even when things are settled. For complete peace of mind, you should hold both BTC and Gold. At least for now.

Long-term speaking, Gold will lose its "luster" as a store of value. Especially if Bitcoin becomes the next "Digital Gold". But it's a wild guess, since the future is unpredictable. What's important is freedom and censorship-resistance. Bitcoin is certainly better than Gold in this regard. As long as it stays that way, nothing else matters.
Price volatility or price growth, different people with different mindset and purposes (investment or trading) will see different pictures with only one asset, Bitcoin.

With investors, they practice long term investment and their attention is on long term price growth, while they ignore price volatility in short term.
In contrast, traders and speculators focus on short term price volatility.

However, it's people concerns and it's not Bitcoin concern or responsibility.
See table and charts about Bitcoin and Gold ROIs, then I hope newbies can make right decision like becoming investors or traders or speculators.
