I read that Barcelona will not play in Camp Nou because it is not ready yet and they will break La Liga record when facing Valencia this Sunday in Johan Cruyff. By La Liga record, they mean the stadium with the lowest capacity ever!
I don't know why they picked this stadium and couldn't find another bigger one because the number of tickets will be very limited so less revenue for them at the time they are desperate for money..
The reason why Barcelona board of directors chose the Johan Cruyff Stadium for their match against Valencia has not been revealed, but the decision is clearly very detrimental to the club, especially in terms of finances because Barcelona has so far relied heavily on ticket sales to cover financial shortfalls. This policy further increases financial pressure on clubs. Playing in smaller stadiums with a capacity of only 6,000 seats not only reduces ticket sales but also limits the club ability to manage revenue streams.
Although playing at the Johan Cruyff Stadium does not require operating costs as high as when they rent other stadiums, the calculations are not able to cover the club losses, especially in their still fragile financial situation.
