fantastic, mate , you're basically right. The 'Four Es' Escape, Esteem, Excess, Excitement is actually a validated risk scale, (i've read the article it stated 40 items) that is used to predict problem gambling, and your list fits. Escape, gambling to escape negative emotions, is very strongly linked to disaster. Low self-esteem is also often connected to problem play. Excitement or seeking something different sometimes leads to risky play, but the results are mixed. Then there's the excess, which is clearly a result of habit. That's a solid framework IMO, brother , but it would be better if it was paired with a clinical assessment to make more of a difference
