Doomscrolling or doomsurfing is the act of spending an excessive amount of time reading large quantities of user-generated content or news, particularly negative news, on the web and social media

basically doomscrolling is aimlessly scrollig through social media without any real intentions. being on social media also generates dopamine which is the same happy hormone that gambling can give you. we both doomscroll or gamble when we are bored. what do you think is worse, gambling or doomscrolling?

is it healthy to engage in these two activities excessively?

For me, doomscrolling is a bigger problem than gambling (gambling is not a problem for me at all). On the one hand, I have to stay up to date with current news, but on the other hand, when I look at this fucking hell, at this whole war, at other wars that don't even concern me, I experience severe mental torment. I don't know what dopamine you're talking about. The amount of positive news is small, or at least in the context of major negative events it has little significance.
