I read that Barcelona will not play in Camp Nou because it is not ready yet and they will break La Liga record when facing Valencia this Sunday in Johan Cruyff. By La Liga record, they mean the stadium with the lowest capacity ever!
I don't know why they picked this stadium and couldn't find another bigger one because the number of tickets will be very limited so less revenue for them at the time they are desperate for money..

While the John Cruyff Stadium may have limited capacity, it's home to the Barcelona women's team and Barcelona B. This is likely why it's Barcelona's current choice. However rumors are circulating that Camp Nou will soon be ready for use, and Barcelona will play their home games there.
The renovation of the Camp Nou stadium is a timely decision to have been made by the club because upgrading the old-fashioned Camp Nou which is the pride of the club to a modern stadium is long overdue and a strategic long term investment for the club.
As for the Johan Cruyff stadium , I think the reason why it was chosen was on the basis of its availability despite its small sized facility, it's a stadium which is already used by the women's team and the Barcelona B club. So they don't have to rent any stadium outside since this one can already serve as a temporary site for their games. So even when the revenue to be generated on John Cruyff is little, it's obvious the interest of the club is more tied to the completion of the Camp Nou stadium because the financial advantage they will get afterwards is well over the short term earnings they will face here for the mean time. On the issue of ranting another stadium, I don't even think it's the best way to go because they will end up expending the revenue generated from such stadium on the renting fee.
