I recently watched an investigative film on YouTube about how in eSports there are often those who are ready to lose a match for a certain amount of money by giving in to their opponents.
So my answer is yes, corruption in the world of sports and eSports is still thriving because everyone is looking for profit and many are willing to sell their dream of becoming a great athlete for money that will be received here and now.
The sporting industry is a business world on its own and the unfortunate thing is that people have started seeing it as so lately unlike before when many genuinely believed that it was a serious matter and not for the biggest bidder. I think the entertainment in it is beginning to be seen as staged managed and not the zealousness of physical attributes, strength and skill in action.
The whole match fixing or point shave reminds me of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).
