If I'm not trading p2p on exchange for converting airdrop usdt to fiat, I don't have any business keeping coin on exchange, I prefer to have mine on wallet. I don't mind to pay the transaction fee knowing fully that I can wake up and see my coin with me. I don't know if I'm the only one but anytime I tried to KYC on exchange, they causualy reject me and I don't know why, maybe this is one the signs.
Not your keys not your coin so you’re right not to keep coins on exchange but when it comes to the “fee” part, it doesn’t matter which side, you are still gonna pay some sat. Infact, it could be more on exchange than a self-custody wallet, since you can manage and customize whatever you want (depends on how your managed you UTXO though, you could end up with higher transaction if the coin-control won’t work for you in regards to what you are about to spend) while on exchange, they give you fixed charge that Favors them..
About the KYC, you’re just giving the wrong KYC details or doing it wrongly.. it’s not something they would love to reject Smiley
