it's only temporarily suspended, and i don't think the wager amount was the reason. they are preparing to launch their sportsbook next month, and it looks like they are just hitting the brakes on the promotion stuff so they can go full speed once it's out.
I don't know if it's temporary because if I'm not wrong, I saw the other leaderboards and they're running. If they want to pause the wagering competition, they would pause them all. But I don't think that is the reason. Other leaderboards are running, which you can check here

If they will relaunch the BTCtalk leaderboard contest, then it is good news for us but if there will be none then we can assume that BTCtalk leaderboard contest is not worth enough for them to keep it running for longer time. However, the other leadeboard contest are basically similar to BTCtalk leaderboard where the wager amount is not that much compared to the prizepool but they are still running. No one knows why except Yeet but whatever the reason is, what they have offered here so far is great already.
