According to this 2023 data, the US still controls about 38% of total mining hash power, and they are also still holding more bitcoin, which they obtained by seizure, not by purchase, and are still likely to seize more as time goes by. If they get bored with their holding figure, they can just look for something to crack down on, seize their holdings, and increase their numbers since seized coins are not returned to victims but are automatically regarded as national treasure.
