“If the Lakers were smart, they would do a sign-and-trade,” Horry wrote. “And the reason I say that is because when you have a team with two players who are pretty much the same, meaning Luka and AR, and I'm not saying they have the same skill set. They play the same position, they pretty much do the same thing. It's a wash. And don't get me wrong, I love AR and I think he could play, but you don't need two of the same players. You think about the NBA is all about a fit. You look at all the great teams, they all have something different. There's no two no Jokers. There's no two Giannises, no two Shai Gilgeouses.”

Is it really a problem to have two guards in the same position?
Sure, they could use the trade to gain more shooters, but I think AR being there could help secure some of their problems if ever Luka were injured.

Is it a waste of salary cap?
AR could also shoot, and he is a good player. Adjustments could be made, and they can make him focus on shooting if both play at the same time.

His suggestion is valid since AR is a starter player too same with Luka so there’s a conflict on position. This will work if the other player will change his role or dedicate himself as second unit point guard as substitute for Luka.

AR already have a decent value which Lakers can use to trade for a better role player that can compliment Luka play style since they will focus more on Luka now when building their roster.

AR is a good PG but Luka is much better.
