Is it really a problem to have two guards in the same position?
Sure, they could use the trade to gain more shooters, but I think AR being there could help secure some of their problems if ever Luka were injured.
Is it a waste of salary cap?
AR could also shoot, and he is a good player. Adjustments could be made, and they can make him focus on shooting if both play at the same time.
Both can shoot, score, pass, and rebound. Both have similarities, but they still have differences as well. Luka is one of the best in lob pass, Reaves on the other hand is better at defending than Luka. Luka is more efficient when it comes to passing while Reaves is more of a score-first kind of guy.
Respect to Horry, but I think both of them can play together in LA. Well, this season is a test for them if they really are good backcourt duo. Seeing them playing in just a few games isn't enough for me to conclude that both of them can't play together. As for a waste of salary cap, it wasn't. It's just that, Reaves will ask for a higher contract once his current contract is over, and he already declined the previous offer of the Lakers for him.
Adjustments will be made yes, and like what I said, this upcoming regular season will be a test for them. Also, it's also a test for Reaves if he's worth the value that he's asking (around $30m), or not.
