I have been gambling for years, maybe I have been addicted to it at some point even though I never noticed, however I'm a little in control of my gambling activities. Something still get me confused regarding gambling addiction that is a hot topic here and I want to get opinion of others on these areas:
- How do you know you are addicted to gambling
- How easy it is to be addicted to gambling?
- Can an addicted gambler work himself out of that addiction without help from anyone, if yes, is it still addiction?
It is simple to know but a gambler that is addicted to gambling may argue that he is not addicted. They know they are addicted when they have the feeling to stop gambling or to stop the addiction. But anyone that is frequently gambling and losing money than usual, the person is addicted.
It is very easy to be addicted to gambling but most gamblers are only losing money and not get to the point of addiction.
Yes, addicted gambler can stop the addiction. This could begin when he knows that gambling is not a way to make money. But if self help is not working, he can go for a rehab instead.
Gambling addiction is a gradual process and the moment you start seeing gambling as a means of survival or where your means of making money lies, then at that point you are getting addicted to it. And also the moment you start getting yourself into so many controversies and problems all in the name of gambling activities but even after getting out of those controversies, some of which might even be life threatening , yet you didn’t limit or quit gambling, at that point you’re deeply addicted to gambling. But for someone who only gamble for fun, you gamble not necessarily because you depend on it for your survival, that means you can have a little bit of control and you can decide when to gamble and when not to gamble.
Indeed gambling addiction occurs gradually and in most cases gamblers falls the victim without realizing it earlier, on general point every gambler is vulnerable and prone to getting addicted regardless of what purposes you are gambling for, someone who gamble for fun can end up chasing losses and gradually become addicted, immunity for gambling addiction is not really something anyone should be proud of because it can swift you up even when you even expected it can, while it can happen to anyone what matters is how we respond or react to it after which we have realized what we have gotten in to, there is enough hope for every addict provided they are willing to work towards a positive change.
