Lightning network is a huge waste of resources and funds due to fundamental flaws in it's design. Moreover it's a protocol that is not secure and exposes users to various risk that the underlying layer never could.

So while lightning network advertises itself as being built on bitcoin, it has nothing to do with the base layer other than acting as an intermediary. No security, no immutability. Nothing of the original features. So it's actually quite deceptive. To give up all the decentralisation for supposed speed is nuts. Especially while even core Devs have called to ditch the technology.
