What happened over the weekend is another clear evidence to prove to us that football can be indeed unpredictable. Big teams can perform poorly and show signs of inconsistency. Yea, this is how unpredictable football can be. I already have a picture in my head how Atletico Madrid might likely end up since they are always known not to maintain consistency over time. They start off very well and begin to struggle with inconsistency at some stage, unlike Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Madrid loss to ATM was pretty surprising, especially considering how consistent Madrid usually is as one of the top teams. But in derby matches like this, the home team often has the upper hand, and ATM definitely made the most of playing at home.
You could see the pressure getting to Madrid, ATM fans created a tough atmosphere, and that seemed to affect Madrid’s mentality. Even Courtois, who’s normally rock solid, had a rough game and didn’t look like his usual self.
But let’s see what happens when these two teams meet again and Madrid gets to play at home. I’m pretty confident Madrid will turn things around and beat ATM in the next one.
